Cards back on track with Yreka win
The Cardinals needed to shake off a sluggish first quarter in Yreka on Friday, and proceeded to turn a 9-6 deficit after the opening period into a 55-36 victory.
Corning High's double-double twins were at it again, as Michael Shoemaker posted 19 points and 11 rebounds, while Nick Hoag pitched in with 13 points and 13 boards.
Chayce Maday also finished in double figures with 10 points, and Cody Long tacked on five.
Corning (21-1, 5-0 Northern Athletic League) shot 38 percent from the field on 21 of 55 shooting, while hitting 50 percent from the strip with 11 of 22.
Hoag led the team with five assists, and joined Long, Maday, Shoemaker and Trevor Skousen with three steals apiece.
Corning hosted league cellar-dweller Lassen (9-14, 0-5 NAL) on Tuesday, and plays at Central Valley on Friday.
