Aaron Miller scored 14 points and Jason Cruickshank added 10 for the Cubs, and helped them to a 26-23 lead at halftime, before the Corning defense limited the visitors to just nine points in each of the third and fourth quarters.
Chayce Maday scored seven points for the Cardinals and Cody Long chipped in six as Corning shot 34 percent from the field, connecting on 15 of 44 attempts. The Cardinals were strong at the line, making 18 of 23 free-throw opportunities.
