Davies rides to rodeo finals

Gerber's Blaine Davies has punched his ticket to the high school rodeo national finals.

He was among high school rodeo riders from the tri-county area who competed in the California High School Rode Association State Finals held last week in Bishop.

Davies rode to a fourth-place finish in the bareback riding event with 35.5 points. The top four qualifiers in each event moved on to the national Finals Rodeo taking place July 19-25 in Farmington, N.M.

Rylee Lamson and Kaely Terras represented Corning High in Bishop. Lamson finished fifth in barrel racing, 22nd in goat tieing and 40th in cutting, while Terras took seventh in pole bending.

Orland High's Jenna Price earned seventh place in breakaway roping, and Williams High brothers Austin and Cody Alvernaz came in eighth in team roping.
