Lady Cards kept out of Lassen net

The Corning girls soccer team battled Lassen to a scoreless first half on Tuesday, but the visiting Lady Grizzlies punched in a goal after the break to prevail, 1-0.

Lady Cardinals coach Asa Robinson said he was proud of his team's effort and praised Lassen as one of the best teams they have faced all year.

Cynthia Ramirez fired three of Corning's seven shots on goal and Karen Torres collected five steals to lead the defense. Mayra Sanchez added four steals, and goalkeeper Tristen Huntley recorded eight saves.

Corning (4-3 NAL, 7-5) traveled to Yreka on Thursday in the cold rain but results were not available at press time. The Lady Cards host Central Valley on Tuesday.
