Lady Cards 1-2 in Oroville

After falling to Oroville 53-47 on Thursday and 51-46 to Lincoln on Friday, Corning High came back to post a 73-62 win over Yuba City on Saturday to finish 1-2 in the Duard Millet Tournament in Oroville.

Corning was running cold from the field on Thursday, as they hit just 14 of 62, but they remained close by hitting 15 of 21 from the charity stripe.

Rachel Silva led the way with 20 points, including 9 of 12 from the line. Bailey Jennings' six points was the next highest point total, and Marisa Vinson and Jordyn Raker both pitched in with five.

Gates Fears led the battle on the glass with eight rebounds.

The lid remained tightened on the Corning basket on Friday, with the Cardinals hitting 16 of 72 from the field.

Jennings was high scorer with 18 points, and the Cardinals got six apiece from Silva, Chrystal Short and Shyanne Petty.

Finally against Yuba City on Saturday, the shooting percentage improved to 38-percent, as did the outcome.

Emerie Eller shot 6 of 9 from the field and put up a team-leading 16 points, with Gates Fears pitching in with 11.

Vinson and Jennings each scored nine points, and Whitney Armstrong came up with five steals.

The Lady Cardinals (5-3) hosted Orland on Tuesday, and are on the court for the weekend's Red Bluff Holiday Classic.
